Cinderella I:
Witches and the Power of the Glass Slippers

Cinderella I:
Witches and the Power

of the Glass Slippers

A delightful fairy had a lifelong dream to become a fairy godmother. When her dream came true, she made an incredible gift for her fairy goddaughter—glass slippers with magical powers. As time went on, her goddaughter blossomed into a beautiful girl. When she turned twelve, the girl’s mother died and her father, a retired captain of the Royal Navy, took care of her.

One day, three witches, a mother and her two daughters, are left homeless as a result of a witchcraft accident caused by the youngest and incompetent witch, Gatilda. The mother, the old witch, uses black magic to find them a new home and to turn them into attractive young women. They move into the house of the retired captain and his beautiful young daughter, who is the fairy’s goddaughter. Soon, the witches take over the house and turn its owner into the old witch’s obedient, weak-willed husband, and his daughter into an obedient and timid servant, whom they tease by calling Cinderella.

Meanwhile, preparations are made for the ball at the royal palace, where the most beautiful young women in the kingdom will gather for the prince to choose his bride. The three witches, who are now pretty ladies, attend the royal ball with full confidence that they will make the prince choose the old witch’s eldest daughter Matilda as his bride, and after that, they will take over the kingdom.

Under the witches’ spell, Cinderella stays at home. But just in time, the fairy godmother returns from a long journey and sends her beloved goddaughter to the ball. The witches do not recognize Cinderella at the ball, and their witchcraft prevails. However, a short time later, the glass slippers reveal their magical powers.
